Smiling Faces And Delicious Fruit

Fresh Fruit Friday’s goal is to provide fresh fruit to students in public schools in order to help combat food insecurity and malnutrition among children from ages 5-18. Our pilot program is at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, Texas.

While the program is available to all students and staff, anecdotal evidence shows the benefit to the underprivileged population the most. LHHS is 54% free and reduced lunch. Many of these students do not have consistent access to fresh fruit at home.

Fresh Fruit Friday is now officially a non profit organization! Join the cause by donating!

Watch our fruit cart go from full to empty! Empty cart…full hearts!

Fresh Fruit Friday has been shown to improve attendance, lessen altercations, and lessen students fatigue and clinic visits throughout the day.

8 weeks of Fresh Fruit Friday is proudly sponsored by UT Southwestern’s Simmons Cancer Center, the only cancer center in North Texas designated by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center and ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a top 20 cancer center in the nation. And it’s right here in our own backyard with locations in Richardson, the Dallas Medical District, RedBird, Fort Worth, and, coming soon, Frisco. Learn more about Simmons Cancer Center, including how to make an appointment and what makes us special.
